On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

I would like to nominate myself.

  • I've been an active member of the community since the very beginning, and was a pro-temp moderator for nearly all of that time.
  • Out of 895 days this site stands, I was here in 820.
  • I promote voting and community moderation.
  • Along with the other moderators on the site, we've organized various community events and extras.
  • I have strong opinions, and am not afraid to speak them up, but will listen to the voice of the community when you guys think I am wrong.
  • I have 16 helpful flags (lol), but have handled a total of 600.
  • I am Madara Uchiha, and have several meteors in storage. Just sayin'

I think this site has the potential to become the biggest and greatest source of anime information on the web. We aren't quite there yet, we need to revise our policy regarding ID requests and hentai, we need to vote more, we need to attract more enthusiasts from around the interwebz, and the way to do that is to make sure we're the most interesting banana in the bunch.

I believe we can do all those things, and if I am elected, that is where I want us to go.

Choose wisely (and again, meteors. Just saying.), and good luck to all other nominees!

Domo Krazer desu.

Hello, I am Anime & Manga SE User no. 63 and your 8th candidate. I have been with the community since its beta almost 3 years ago. As one of the three original pro tempore moderators appointed as the site exited closed beta, I have been with you guys from the beginning.

At long last, we've reached our goal of graduation. This is not an end, but merely one of many beginning to be had for all of us within the community. The would like to continue as moderator and help grow the community, engage its core users, and engage new users to our site.

To do this, I am looking to reach out to other SE communities and potentially have joint events where our users and users from other communities can better interact and see what each other is really about. I'd also like to form a more solid plan to help interested users develop technical skills and work on projects related to anime and manga. A international meetup is also a possibility, the logistics have to be worked out to see if it's actually feasible.

All in all, I plan to focus on making a better user experience for our users and finding ways of engaging them to user both our community and site and have fun.

One score and 11 months ago, I joined this community to ask a question: Why could the Dwarf not escape the flask? Today, this question has new meaning to me. Our site is no longer bound to its flask. It is taking shape as a prosperous community, iconic of our knowledge and love of anime and manga.

That is why I seek the opportunity to become a moderator. As our community has grown, I have strived to ensure that its content and members represent nothing less than our knowledge and love of anime and manga.

I would like to see this community moderated with a philosophy best said in Futurama: "When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all." Educating users, and using enforcement only when necessary, will be key in tackling many user-facing issues (ahem) our community has embraced. I have moderated several communities in the past, and spend many hours on our site and chat each day, so I am confident I can follow through on this philosophy.

Why not me? Well, I am not a perfect moderator. But regardless of if I am chosen, I will continue to help this community achieve great things.

Hello everybody!

I am here to lose my soul and social life nominate myself.

As I really like the community and it's members, I would like to be able to actively improve it in every possible way. And there for will dedicate even more time to the site to do so.

ps. As I am really bad in selling myself, I will also be providing everybody that votes for me will get a free chocolate chip cookie as well. Regardless of if I win or not.

Hi All.

I imagine many of the voters might recognize me already, just because of how active I am on the site. But for those who don't - I've been a regular user of A&M for the last 2 and a half years. Out of those 882(ish) Days, I've been online for 822 of them. They're active days too - I've got the highest reputation gain so far this year.

My moderation style is friendly and constructive. No-one gets anywhere with loud arguments, I prefer taking the time to discuss the pros and cons of something and coming to a mutual conclusion. For an example, I suggest looking at a recent meta post or perhaps our small debate in the Campaign chat room

Anyone who has been on chat will hopefully recognise that asides from being silly occasionally (see http://meta.anime.stackexchange.com/a/2503/1530 ), I do take the site seriously and want it to grow and become a staple site in the regular anime-viewers bookmarks. Much like SO has done for programmers.

Your Senpai,

Toshinou Kyouko.

I would like to nominate myself to be a Moderator for the Anime and Manga Stack Exchange Community. I have been a member for 2 Years 4 Months + (Current Time - 11/08/2015) and looking at my profile actually been on for about 2 years (the rest are probably weekends).

Since my first post here I have grown in experience and have tried to help the community in what ways i can from fixing up tag wikis to closing/deleting questions and answers which clearly need to. one of my crowning achievements here is the establishment of our Legal Site's list.

I wish to become a Moderator because I want to do more for the community, such as making sure that flags are handled quickly and the closure and/or removal of blatantly off topic question/answers while hopefully being able to give new users the chance to improve (when possible) so they too can continue to contribute to our community.

A Vote for me is a Vote for Shoujo Ai/Yuri cuteness

To those who have things like Meteors and Tomatos, I have a Fuka and Desco

Hello. I have been a pro-tempore moderator since April (on account of JNat's hiring as an SE employee).

I would like to continue being a moderator for the following reasons:

  • We do not have enough people on this site to create tag synonyms without mod intervention. I have been doing a lot of this and would like to continue.
  • When the rest of you come around to the idea that identification-requests must be banned altogether, being a mod will allow me to lead the charge against them.
  • I often post analyses of site data. Before I was a mod, I was restricted to using SEDE, which lacks information about deleted posts, making it difficult to get a full picture of quality issues. Now that I am a mod and can use deleted:1 when searching, I have a better view of these issues and can inform the rest of the site about them more effectively.
  • I enjoy performing maintenance activities, as you can see here. Some maintenance activities (e.g. this) are mod-only.

It’s the nomination you’ve all been waiting for!

Matt here <3

I've been warmly welcomed into this site, so I'd like to give something back!

  • I’ve only been an active member for a short time, but have already amassed a fair amount of reputation.
  • I’ve been consistently active in voting, and in the review queues as they’ve become available to me, as well as in flagging and closing posts.
  • With the exception of 4 days holiday in May, since becoming an active user I’ve visited the site each day, and am well on my way to achieving the Fanatic badge. I don’t mind putting in time to help out.
  • If I’m on the site, I’ll be online in chat, meaning I can be easily reached if any issues require my attention.
  • I offer help when I can, rather than just closing without explanation.
  • I take a firm but fair approach to moderation – while leniency has its benefits, I’m not one to sit by and tolerate poor quality elements in our site.
  • If elected, I'll implement point 2 of point 2 here.
  • Mod and Matt both start with “M”.
  • ♦’s have 4 sides. Matt has 4 letters.

I'm looking forward to your criticism!

This election is over.
