2016 Moderator Election

On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

This election ended Sep 6 '16 at 20:00.

Heya, I am Dimitri Mx and nominate myself as a moderator.

If been around for a fair amount of time, and spend several hours a day in the review queue's or lurking about questions.

As a moderator I will be able to put this time to some good use by either cleaning up the meta (as our tomato seems to lack the time), acting upon post that require attention, and many more things.

Together with the other moderators I hope we can pull A&M to a new level, where everybody can enjoy anime Q&A even more then before.

A few people have suggested I go for it, so I'm going to throw my hat head into the ring.

I'm an experienced moderator, having been a pro-tem on Freelancing for three years (and counting), and I've seen my fair share of disputes, spammers, and so on.

I like to focus on janitorial tasks, and I have a hands-off approach to moderation.

Also, I'm a better tomato than @ToshinouKyouko.

Hello again. I was a pro tempore moderator from Apr 2015 until site graduation, and was a failed candidate in election #1.

I would like to be a moderator for the following reasons:

  • It is still the case that we have problems with getting synonyms created for tags. I did a lot of this when I was previously a mod and would like to continue doing this.
  • While I have been doing less maintenance (editing, retagging, managing tag wikis, etc) recently than I used to, I still have done more than almost anyone on this site. Having access to mod tools again is likely to get me to do more of this again.
  • I was one of the strongest advocates of slaying identification requests. This was an unpopular position in the past, but I stood by my principles. And history has vindicated me!
  • Now that id-reqs are gone, it's time to look at other aspects of the site that need improving. The #1 thing I see a need for is increased diversity of content (which I've worked towards in the past; cf. bounties-for-tags, etc); a moderatorial pulpit will allow me to help implement any such initiatives more effectively.

Hey everyone, I am Torisuda. I had a hard time deciding whether to run, but I've decided. Win or lose, it'll be an interesting experience.

A Stack Exchange user for about two years, I still spend an unhealthy amount of time on various sites in the network, but Anime and Manga is the cradle where I was nurtured. When id requests were the law of the land, I started a discussion to solve a problem I saw with them. When banning them came up, I laid out my case against them. When I felt that people who came here with Legend of Korra questions weren't getting a fair deal, I sought a definitive consensus on them, and took the initiative to make a guide to which peripheral things are on-topic, consolidating the results of two years of Meta posts.

I won't send you cookies and I can't make animated gifs, but if elected, I'll do my best to help the site both in the open, by making suggestions and helping shape policy, and behind the scenes, by cleaning up spam and garbage posts.

Kashikoi kawaii...хорошо!

Ayase Eri here. I would like to nominate myself for the position of moderator in this site. I'm not the most experienced member here. If we are to talk about contribution, then clearly what I contributed is far less than many of the other members has contributed. Reputation points wise I'm in the 24th rank, far below the other candidate, 3rd rank senshin is. Even so, I still would like to strife for the betterment of this site and contribute more to the community.

The main problem why we needed this election was because of the said moderators only 1, Ms. Tomato, is active regularly. In the event that Ms. Tomato is out for holiday or somehow got caught in Tomato War and thus need sometime before she can reincarnate into another tomato, this site would be in danger of being in moderator-less state.

I'm nominating myself for this exact problem as I find myself checking this site almost everyday regularly. I'm inexperienced, so I hope everyone will continue to guide and watch over me. Arigatou gozaimasu.

Otonokizaka Student Council President,

Ayase Eri

Hello, I am Josh McMahan.

I humbly and gratefully nominate myself for the position of community moderator of the Anime Stack Exchange website.

Together, we will lead our community back to the reason we are all here, Anime. We will lead our site back to community engagement, fun, and good questions. We will be a community of generosity and warmth. But we will also be a community of law and order.

So together, let us make Anime Stack Exchange great again!

This election is complete.
