2017 Moderator Election

On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

Hereby I nominate myself for the position of moderator here at A&M

Been a member for nearly 4.5 year and see my fair share of community developments since than.

As somebody who travels a lot, I often visit A&M to read up on some interesting questions and see if I can answer them. As I often read manga during these travels as well.

I feel that as a moderator I can help the community grow and stay on the right path, by informing and guiding people in their use of the community.

My answers to the Election questions will reflect this as well.

I would like to nominate myself to be a moderator here at Anime and Manga SE. The name's Jason, but I go by Makoto around these parts. I'm from the US, and on MDT/MST, depending on the season.

I've been active on this site since it's been in beta, and I've got a very strong sense of duty to this site. I've been looking at the site and trying to think about what we can do to improve it, and how I can help as well, and I feel that being a moderator would put me in an ideal position to do so.

I'm also quite passionate, opinionated and well-versed in anime, and the reason I came to this site to begin with was to share that knowledge and to build upon it.

If the community would have me, it would truly be a privilege to serve.

  • you know we're gonna ask you how the position of a moderator would help in whatever improvement ideas you have, because the current rep thresholds allow you to do almost anything without that – Hakase Jul 12 '17 at 10:27
  • @Hakase: I understand your point, and I do allude to it in my answers. Irrespective of what happens here, I'll get myself together and start leading those improvement ideas I have. – Makoto Jul 13 '17 at 4:53

This election is complete.
