2020 Moderator Election

On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

This election ended Nov 3 '20 at 20:00.

Hi, I'm Andrew T. (or also known as Aki Tanaka here), living in UTC+7 timezone.

I love anime & manga in general, though I'm now more on the casual side due to personal reasons. Still, I'm open to various works, especially the more hidden pearl one!

I'm also a mod on Android.SE, so I have a fair experience in moderating a SE site. While I'm always trying to be welcoming and fair, take note that my moderating policy is leaning more to the stricter-side of SE policy, especially about comment moderation.

Here are my answers to the questionnaire.

  • Cutting the nomination kind of close, eh? Best of luck! :) – Wondercricket Oct 26 '20 at 19:38
  • @Wondercricket I had another plan (which I actually mentioned in the chat), but it was ... "foiled", and it'd be my fault if it ended with a bad election. So, best of luck too, you deserve it :) – Aki Tanaka Oct 26 '20 at 19:45

Hello users of Anime & Manga! I go by the name of Fumikage Tokoyami although my real name is Nilay Ghosh. Since no one has stepped forward to give us enough candidates to go forward with an election, I'm willing to take a risk and nominate myself for the moderator position although I am not planning to be a moderator because:

  1. I am new to this community (member for 1.3 years)
  2. Relatively new to the general anime medium (I started watching anime for a year, so I have less knowledge in anime than other users here)
  3. no prior moderating experience

I will vote for Wondercricket because I believe he/she will be a great moderator. I encourage all of you to vote for him/her. If somebody nominate him/herself for the election within the due time, I will withdraw my nomination.

Thank you for your participation.

  • Wait. Wait. Why are you putting yourself out there as a potential candidate just because there isn't enough interest? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of this whole exercise? – Makoto Oct 26 '20 at 19:06

Hello fellow members of Anime & Manga! I am the great and powerful (not really) Wondercricket, and I am nominating myself for the moderator position. My real name is Timothy Heine, and as a candidate, I am honored to have this opportunity to better serve and assist the Anime & Manga community.

I have been apart of this community for a couple of years now. While my review numbers are currently lower than what I want them to be, I have been keeping the review queue clean using my best knowledge and judgement.

I am always looking to keep the site clean by flagging questionable content that needs to be remove. As a moderator, I would be able to help keep the site even more cleaning by taking action immediately. Our current moderator team does an amazing job processing flags accordingly, but the more the merrier.

In addition to general site clean up, my first action as a moderator would to assist the moderator team on getting our policies to be current and up-to-date.
