One is censorship (Tokyo Ghoul), and the other is Shaft's utter inability to do things right the first time (Mekakucity Actors). I don't think censorship is particularly unique to anime, but there is certainly something to be said for the huge changes that some studios make between the TV and BD releases (Shaft foremost among them). I'd say this is enabled by the fact that you can have your animators redraw scenes later on, whereas you can't bring back your cast of actors to reshoot a botched scene.
