Is/Are Yuma and/or Hotaru actually exclusively homosexual instead of bisexual?

Or is this like left to the viewer/reader to guess or interpret or something?

I'm asking because I think it's usually the reverse like say

The Legend of Korra or Harley Quinn: Characters start out as seemingly exclusively heterosexual and then we find out they are bisexual. In Netsuzou Trap, I think it's the reverse: They start out seemingly bisexual, but it might turn out that they are actually exclusively homosexual.

But maybe that's common in yuri/yaoi where it's left to the viewer/reader? Or maybe the author has said something about this? Or re death of the author, maybe there's something in the story that tells us what his/her/their sexual orientation/s really is?

Just from the synopsis I glanced at on Wikipedia, it seems like this is a plot point to the story, so the answer would be to read through it and draw your own conclusions, I'm thinking?

  • @Makoto Yeah thanks. That's what I figured. But it's devil's proof? Idk. Is it common in yuri or yaoi where the answer is like 'draw your own conclusions' ?

Depends on the nature of the story. If it's overt that there are yuri or yaoi elements, then one's conclusions are drawn based on other synopses. If it's not as overt, then yes, you'll just be making your own assumptions about it. Compare and contrast Sakura Trick with Yuru Yuri here (and even Sakura Trick makes you draw conclusions first anyway).

  • @Makoto Ugh...ok thanks. Not familiar with those. They are both yuri though? Also wait I'm talking about overt/not overt heterosexual (/heteroromantic) relationships. Do you know Gasai what I mean? I can guess about non-overt homosexual stuff in heterosexual series like say Kaguya-sama but am I also gonna be guessing about non-overt heterosexual stuff homosexual series?

That depends too. Case in point: Toradora. There's overt and not overt relationships in that, and you're forced to draw your own conclusions about it for a period of time. Until you actually finish the media, you won't know for certain.
